Original description from Contra

Hello :) We need a senior operator who can own the entire build process from kickoff call to launch day. Not manage it from a distance. Own it. This is not a coordinator role. We're looking for someone who treats every project like it's their own business — who wakes up knowing what's on fire, has already messaged the developer, and has already updated the timeline. Someone who can just as comfortably dig into a WordPress staging environment or troubleshoot a DNS issue as they can run a cross-functional standup or write the client update that keeps everyone calm. What You'll Do Project Ownership Lead web build projects from discovery through launch — websites, landing pages, microsites, migrations Own the project plan, timeline, and task board in Asana; keep it obsessively current Identify risks before they become problems and proactively communicate them Serve as the connective tissue between clients, designers, developers, and copywriters Prep and sometimes run kickoff calls, status syncs, and launch reviews with clarity and confidence Ensure all assets are captured and uploaded to new web builds Technical Execution Navigate WordPress back-ends, staging environments, and hosting configurations without hand-holding Troubleshoot plugin conflicts, DNS issues, domain migrations, and deployment problems Manage email platform setups including list uploads, automations, and integrations (MailChimp, etc.) Coordinate technical QA — cross-browser, mobile, forms, redirects, page speed Know enough to call BS on unrealistic developer timelines or scope creep disguised as a bug fix Team & Vendor Coordination Assign tasks clearly in Asana with proper context, due dates, and priority — no vague asks Follow up relentlessly without being annoying about it Manage relationships with freelance developers, designers, and third-party vendors Escalate intelligently — know when to resolve it yourself and when to bring it up Who You Are You have 5–8 years of experience delivering web projects in an agency environment. You know what a "done" project actually looks like — and you've shipped enough of them to have strong opinions about process. You're the person on the team that everyone trusts. Clients trust you because you communicate clearly and don't disappear. Developers trust you because you respect their craft and give them what they need to do good work. Leadership trusts you because things don't fall through the cracks when you're involved. You have a slight obsession with loose ends. Unresolved tasks bother you. Unanswered questions bother you. You close loops. Must-Haves 5–8 years in a web project management or delivery role at an agency (not in-house) Deep familiarity with WordPress, Vercel, React, Git, etc. Comfort with hosting environments, DNS, SSL, domain management, and email deliverability basics Experience with Asana or comparable project management tools Strong written and verbal communication — you can write a client update that actually builds confidence Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without letting quality slip Self-directed with a strong bias toward action — you don't wait to be told what to do next Nice-to-Haves Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign) Familiarity with HubSpot, Webflow, or other CMS/CRM platforms Light front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS enough to QA a layout or interpret a developer's explanation) Background in B2B or SaaS client work Comfortable across D2C as well. Engagement Details This is a long-term contract engagement. We work with clients across a range of industries and project types — no two projects are exactly the same. The right person will grow with us and potentially have the opportunity to take on a broader leadership role over time. Your Intro Send us a brief overview of two or three web projects you've owned end-to-end. Tell us your role, the scope, the team you coordinated, and one thing that went sideways and how you handled it. No cover letter template. We want to hear how you actually think. Also, what are some ways you've been incorporating AI and new tooling into your workflow.
